A story more than words...
Short stories --> |
Sere shuffled her feet distracted. Her eyes darting back and forth between her two other siblings. It was the middle of June, the sky was cloudless and sunny and..kind of hot.
Sere was given the task of watching both Sani, who was supose to the oldest and more MATURE and Clemente. Who physically catching up to Serephina in age, acting more like a 6 year old fashionista. The glaring contest between the two siblings seemed to last forever, each reaching each other like hot daggers. "No" Saniya growled out, her blue eyes narrowing at her brother. Clemente scoffed, his purple jewel glowing defiantly "What did you say?" Serephina winced, her ears folded back and she bit down her bottom lip. "Guys, please think of what your doing..." Clemente whipped his head to his older sister and huffed "I asked" He turned back to Sani after glaring at Sere for a millisecond "What did you say?" Saniya smiled halfhearted and smirked "I said. No" Clemente growled and leaped onto Saniya swiping his paws, trying to pin the older down to the ground. Saniya, pinned down bu her younger brother, squeeked in surprise and pushed him away, huffing. "Fine take your little doll see what I care" Clemente blushed heavely and Saniya tossed him the teddy bear boredly "H-Hes not a doll! Hes more awesome than that. Arnt you mr. Bear?!" Clemente clutched the stuffed toy closer to his chest as he said it, gleefully meaning every word he said. His two sisters glanced at each other and shrugged. Serephina stepped towards Sani and sighed heavly, seeing that Sani's dress was ruined with grass stains from when Clemente tackled her. "You know, maybe for once you could be the older mature on out of us and not ruin all the dresses. You know I get the hand-me-downs.." Saniya shrugged indignantly not really paying much attention to her younger sister, staring up the hill to the manor they call their home. The kirkland manor was practically a palace. Home to the region-wide known Kirkland family, reknown for their wealth from shipyards, deepsea fishing, shipcrafting. All that jazz. Their father is one of the top richest people in the world. But sadly, also one of the most wanted. You see, 'Kirkland' isn't really their last name. Kirkland is an decoy name. The entire world and the children of the manor only knows the fake truth, that the kirklands are boatmakers. But thats what the children were also only told. Serephina, Saniya, and Clemente all don't know the full truth of the manor. And none of tuem wanted to know why. Especially Serephina. Sere scrunched her face in thought, she didn't really see her father around much. She did see her mother and an nanny from time to time though. She turned watching her older sister and younger brother tackle each other to the ground again, more and more ruining the deep red dress Sani decided to wear today. The family was filthy rich, but the father didn't care about the three children as much...which is why Sere was stuck with Saniya's hand-me-downs. Sere grumbled realizing that her 'newest' dress was going to be dark red with dark grass stains...eh she didn't care as much. Sere came back to earth as the shrill vioce of their mother called in the distance "SANIYA!" Sani paused and looked behind her. She yelled back "WHAT!?" "COME HERE AND BRING YOUR BROTHER" Sani paused before looking at her sister "WHAT ABOUT SEREPHINA" "YOU'RE FATHER ONLY WANTS TO SEE THE TWO OF YOU" Saniya scoffed and muttered curses and Serephina rolled her eyes "I know you dislike father, Sani, but just suck it up and go." Saniya was about to protest but then voted against it. She took a hold of Clemente's hand started to walked back towards the manor. Serephina stood in silence in the field. Her father never acknowledged her, she wouldn't acknowledge him. simple as that. sayin that I love you She listened to the wind blowing in the silence closing her eyes a little. The wind reminded her of a tune, a soft song...a love song actually. She smiled, thats what she wanted. Love, someone to call her own. Is not the words I, want to hear from you Of course she was just a kid. But was it only just like a child to dream. of one day finding happiness and true love? It's not that I want you to, just to say that, if you only knew. She will one day hope to find prince charming to take her away from this family. as much as she loved her siblings, she knew she wanted more for herself... How easy, it would be to show me how you feel. More than words, is all you have to do to make me feel.. then you know just what to say.. if you love me... cause I al ready know... Chance meeting...Serephina stopped in the middle of a sidewalk scrunching her brows together 'wait no thats not the way ether...'
Finding herself a school who would accept her was harder than the dragon had even dreamed. The 18 year old had recently moved out of her family's grasp, being her age, free to go to any college or university she wanted to. She applied to 17 different performing arts colleges all around Europe and even north America. and so far, all have denied her. It wasn't her. Serephina was a star student all the way. In class, Serephina had never made below an A-, got perfect score on all her exams all years. and her SAT scores were off the charts. Her GPA is 5.0, and she was the highest scored student in her High school class. No It wasn't Serephina at all. It was her family. Specifically her father. Serephina growled at the thought. Her father hated the idea of his daughter going to school to become a performer. But what did he care? He wished for a son, she was born and he didn't even pay attention to her until he disowned Clemente. She dearly missed Clemente, she had recently been told that he is crashing with Sani. and going to school to be a clothing designer. well, at least he's getting to go to school where he wanted. And now, here she was, searching for her last hope. It was an old performing arts academy in Great Britain. Named "St. George's" the academy is suppose to be the best in Britain. She hoped to at least be accepted here. She walked down the narrow sidewalk brushing by other people scurrying to their destinations, the sky was darkened with clouds, threatening rain. She paused again, looking at the directions on her cell phone. 'It should be near here...' the device began to mess up with the weather and she became annoyed at it, muttering curses. she turned beginning to walk the other way when she saw a little dragon staring up at her. She paused for a second looking down at the boy. His fur was dirtied, almost gray and his jewel was a faded yellow. Soot covered his four paws almost completely along with his tail, making the tail jewel almost brown. he looked up at her fearfully with big light blue eyes, his mouth opening and closing, trying to speak but finding nothing to say. Serephina coughed and forced a smile "Hello there?" He frowned and backed away a little . Serephina raised her eyebrows and lowered her voice gently, her eyes scanning up and down the now deserted sidewalk. "What's your name? Where are your Parents?" She asked, trying to get something out of the child. But within a second he began to run away. It was only then that Sere noticed that his ribs were showing as well. and that was enough to follow. She had no clue why she even followed the child. The child wasn't hers, she had no connection, no name. But she did. She ventured farther into the city of London, trapping herself in an abndoned area near the London eye. The Famous ferris wheel stood proudly in the background of the sky growing dark. She paused looking around, the child had seemingly disappeared... Cheeky. He must've been a smart one. She finally took sight of a dull glow in the edge of an near alleyway. She paused taking a deep breath before entering, seeing the little dragon halt at the dead end and look back at her fearfully. She stopped a good distance away from him to get a good look. His gray fur was matted, cuts and scrapes could be seen up and down his four legs, one had a particularly nasty gash on the back right leg. She also noticed that he wasn't supporting hardly any weight on it at all. What really got to her was his eyes. That light blue shade was only ever seen in dragon's with blindness yet he seemed to see her just fine.. She walked towards him cautiously "look hun, I'm not going to hurt you alright?" He flinched backing himself flush to the wall. Serephina sighed and lowerd her voice to a gentle tone "please don't be afraid. I just want to help yo-" "h-alp?" She looked up at the dragon, seeing him tense against the wall. "I-I dun nead 'elp thankyou." He stuttered out shyly. Serephina shook her head. "Go away. I beg of you" she sighed "my my... You have such pristine language. A few slurs here and there but perfect for a ten year old" he frowned "I'm twelve. Not bloody ten..." She stared in shock, she was so sure...he was so tiny in bone structure she had assumed... She shook her head of her thoughts and he stared at her still wary. "Y-you're not going to tayk me back there are ye?" He asked in British slur, obviously getting nervous. Serephina got this puzzled look on her face "take you back where?" "T-the orphanage...I caunt go back to that place I just Caunt...ye have to understand" he looked up at Serephina with pleading eyes and her heart swelled up with sympathy. "Alright I promise...but can you at least come with me" he stared at her with a confused look on his face "look, I know now...well I figuard your an runaway..and don't you need someplace to stay? Where are you staying right now?" The little dragon shrugged and looked away "anyw'ere and everywhere I guess. I was originally going to stay under the dokes tonight because of the rain..." Serephina looked up remembering now on how the sky was threatening rain. She looked back down at him and shook her head "not tonight. You can get sick in a rain storm...Will you come with me?" The dragon looked fearful again and backed away to the wall again "Y-you're not taking me back are ye?" Serephina shook her head and smiled "trust me, I'm not taking you back...I'm just offering a place to stay" he took a few steps forward and held out his tail, the dirtied gem glowing a pale yellow. "Y-you have to promise. To shake on it. Thaut you wont take me bauk" Serephina nodded, holding out her own tail, her pink gem emitting a soft glow. "I promise" the tails entwined with each other and Sere smiled at the boy as they shook on it. She pulled back and hummed, tilted her head a little "since you are coming with me. I should at least get a name" he looked up at her "my name?" Serephina nodded. If the kid was staying the night she needed to at least know his name. "I'll tell you what." The child turned to her puzzled as she got an ideal look on her face. "I'll tell you my name, and afterwards you can tell me you're name" the child contemplated the idea and smiled "o-ok!" He paused for a millisecond and smiled. Serephina chuckled and smiled back at him "My name is Serephina Isabel. Now you tell me yours!" He paused for a sec then smiled looking up at her. "Emiel" |
